As AI technology continues to shape the gaming landscape, Razer and World have announced a strategic partnership aimed at ensuring fair play by verifying human players. The collaboration introduces ‘Razer ID verified by World ID’, a secure authentication system that distinguishes real gamers from AI bots, enhancing trust and security across digital gaming platforms.
The integration of World ID, a digital proof-of-human technology co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, will provide Razer ID users with an extra layer of verification, preserving privacy while confirming their authenticity. This move comes in response to a growing concern among players, with a recent survey revealing that 87% of US gamers want to know whether they are competing against bots.
Set to debut in the highly anticipated TOKYO BEAST, a futuristic strategy game featuring AI-driven androids and NFT-based gameplay, the new system will help prevent bots, scams, and misinformation. Developers will also benefit from stronger anti-bot measures, improved player authentication, and enhanced security against in-game harassment.
Wei-Pin Choo, Razer’s Chief Corporate Officer, emphasised the importance of human-only gaming experiences, stating,
“Growing a verified community is key to fair play. By teaming up with World, we’re ensuring that real players remain at the heart of every experience.”
Survey results reinforce this need, with 71% of gamers believing AI bots ruin multiplayer competition, and nearly 1 in 5 quitting games due to bots. With the rise of AI-generated content, World’s Chief Product Officer, Tiago Sada, highlighted the partnership as a critical step toward a more secure and trustworthy gaming ecosystem.
‘Razer ID verified by World ID’ will be available across multiple countries, including the US, Japan, Germany, and Australia. Gamers will need to create a World ID account through the World App to access this verification. As the industry evolves, Razer and World’s initiative signals a major leap in protecting the integrity of online gaming and keeping it human-centered.
