Ring introduces 2K video resolution and vehicle detection

Home security giant Ring is upping its game with a major upgrade to its camera technology. Starting January 8, 2025, the popular Floodlight Cam Wired Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro will boast 2K video resolution, delivering crisper images and richer detail than ever before. This enhancement will deliver Ring’s best image quality — not before time: As mentioned in multiple reviews — to date and will be available to new and existing customers in Australia and New Zealand at no extra cost. Existing users can easily upgrade their devices through the Ring app.

But that’s not all! Ring is also launching a new feature called Vehicle Detection. Available to Ring Home subscribers, this intelligent alert system notifies users when a moving vehicle enters the camera’s view. You’ll be in the know whether it’s a car pulling into the driveway or something more suspicious.

Vehicle Detection is compatible with a wide range of Ring devices, including:
