FUJIFILM Australia unveils GFX100RF: The lightest fixed-lens camera in the GFX system

FUJIFILM Australia has officially announced the launch of the FUJIFILM GFX100RF, the first fixed-lens digital camera in the renowned GFX System. Combining a 102MP large format sensor with an impressively lightweight design, the GFX100RF weighs just 735g, making it the lightest model in the GFX lineup. This new camera is set to redefine high-quality photography by offering exceptional resolution, advanced autofocus, and innovative design features, all within a compact, travel-friendly body.

The GFX100RF is built around the GFX 102MP CMOS II sensor and Fujifilm’s latest X-Processor 5, delivering incredible image quality with a wide dynamic range, low noise, and enhanced autofocus accuracy. Its newly developed 35mm F4 lens (28mm equivalent in 35mm format) offers outstanding optical performance with Nano GI coating to minimise reflections, making it ideal for everything from landscapes to portrait photography. The lens also boasts a close focusing distance of just 20cm, allowing photographers to capture stunning details with ease.

One of the most exciting innovations is Fujifilm’s first-ever Aspect Ratio Dial, which allows users to switch effortlessly between nine different aspect ratios, including 3:4 and 17:6, inspired by the company’s legacy in film photography. This feature enhances creative flexibility, giving photographers more control over framing and composition. The camera also introduces a Digital Teleconverter Lever, enabling seamless switching between different focal lengths without compromising image quality.

Designed for both still photography and videography, the GFX100RF features an advanced AI-powered autofocus system that detects and tracks faces, eyes, animals, vehicles, and other moving subjects with precision. Video creators will appreciate its ability to record 4K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit footage with F-Log2 support, offering over 13 stops of dynamic range for greater post-production flexibility. Additionally, it integrates with Frame.io Camera to Cloud, streamlining the workflow from shooting to editing.

Beyond its technical capabilities, the GFX100RF stands out for its premium build quality. It is the first Fujifilm digital camera to feature a fully machined aluminium top plate, dials, and lens ring, delivering a sleek, high-end feel. The built-in 4-stop ND filter and leaf shutter offer greater exposure control and the ability to sync flash photography at any shutter speed. A new surround viewfinder function enhances composition by displaying elements outside the frame, mimicking the experience of an optical viewfinder.

The FUJIFILM GFX100RF will be available in Australia from April 7, 2025, at a retail price of AU$8,799.00
