ASUS this week announced the forthcoming availability of its ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor, a rugged and powerful router designed to extend seamless Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to any outdoor environment. The new device aims to provide users with ultrafast, stable, and secure internet access for outdoor cameras, IoT devices, remote work setups on the patio, or streaming entertainment in any weather.
The ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor boasts dual-band WiFi 7 technology, delivering impressive speeds of up to 3600Mbps. Key features include Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for enhanced connection stability and 4K-QAM for more efficient data transmission, ensuring smooth performance even with multiple connected devices.
Coverage is a focus, with ASUS AiMesh technology allowing the BD4 Outdoor to boost WiFi reach by up to 2530 square feet. It’s designed for easy extendibility and seamless roaming when paired with other compatible ASUS AiMesh routers.
Built for the elements, the ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor features an IP65-certified water-resistant and dustproof enclosure. It’s also equipped with electrostatic discharge and surge protection and can operate in a wide temperature range, from a frigid -30°C to a scorching 60°C. Installation is made flexible with Power over Ethernet (PoE+) support via its dual 2.5G PoE-in ports, which feature auto WAN detection, allowing for a streamlined one-cable setup. An included AC adapter provides an alternative power source, and versatile mounting options permit easy deployment on walls, poles, or flat surfaces.
Security and smart control are also central to the new outdoor router. The ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor features a “Smart Home Master” network capability, allowing users to set up to three separate SSIDS. This allows for dedicated networks for IoT devices like security cameras, smart lights, or garage door openers, as well as options for parental controls. It also includes Triple-level Network Security, featuring commercial-grade AiProtection Pro and pre-installed support for multiple popular VPN services.
ASUS has confirmed that the ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor will be available in Australia and New Zealand from July 2025 through participating retailers, although pricing isn’t yet know.
